Sean Moran commonly has to offer expert opinion on whole systems which collect and treat various mixtures of domestic sewage, stormwater and industrial effluent. He is therefore thoroughly familiar with how sewers and drains are supposed to be designed and maintained. He is familiar with how they work, and the ways it which they fail to work. He has offered evidence on CCTV surveys of traffic damaged, blocked, cracked, holed and misaligned sewers and drains. He has offered evidence about the hydraulic capacity of drains and sewers in a clean and degraded state. He is familiar with sewer surcharging, both as a result of hydraulic overload, and also commonly as a result of the deposition of fats oils and greases, grit and debris. He is able to offer advice about storm overflows, pumping stations and flow control systems in sewers.
